The educational philosophy
of Bowling Green Christian Academy is based upon these Biblical principles:
- The most important part of educating
children is to encourage them in the love of God, His Word, and the
development of Christian character and values.
"These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when
you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." (Deuteronomy
6:6-7)
- The responsibility for educating children
belongs to parents, not to the government, the church or any other
institution.
"Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the
training and instruction of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4)
In addition to spiritual training, children also need academic training,
training in citizenship and vocational training in order to become productive
members of society. Parents should prayerfully seek God concerning the
educational choices they make for their children. There are basically four
choices available to parents today:
The mission of Bowling Green Christian Academy is
to provide a quality private Christian education alternative to the families of
Wood and surrounding counties for grades kindergarten through eighth. We have a
high commitment to both the building of Christian character, and academic
excellence. Although the Academy was started as a ministry of Bowling Green
Covenant Church and is located at Bowling Green Covenant Church, the school is
separately governed and administrated.
Every attempt has been made to concentrate on basic evangelical Christian values
and to avoid areas of doctrine which might be controversial or interfere with
parental teachings in any way. Our desire is to serve the whole Christian
community and see the kingdom of God extended through our children.
Who We Are
Bowling Green Christian
Academy founded in 1984, is an interdenominational, K-8 school, located in
Bowling Green Ohio. As a community of committed Christian parents, teachers and
administrators, we strive to make God the highest priority in our children’s
lives. We are self-governed by a parent elect board of eight members.
Students come from a 30-mile radius and represent more than 30 different
Christian church affiliations. We are small enough to have a caring, family
environment, but big enough to offer a wide range of extracurricular
activities. Bowling Green Christian Academy is a unique, accessible,
disciplined, experienced and committed to excellence in academics and the arts.
What we do
We acknowledge God’s
word as truth. Christian values are taught and modeled to build a foundation of
faith in each student. We build a foundation of knowledge using Biblically
based curriculum and high academic standards.
We encourage students to
enjoy learning, preparing them to excel academically in high school and beyond.
We strive to develop self-motivation, teamwork, organization, personal
responsibility and self-discipline in each student.
We challenge each
student to understand and explore their God given abilities, and to grow beyond
their limitations. We challenge students to deepen their relationship with God
through prayer and worship.
We partner with
families, nurturing each student in a safe and caring environment to develop the
whole child, body, mind and spirit.
Where we are going
Bowling Green Christian
Academy is focused on continuous growth and improvement. Our commitment to our
comprehensive strategic plan will ensure expansion of facilities, technology,
academic programs, the arts, extra curricular activities, and community
involvement. Above all, BGCA will provide distinctively Christian, high quality
education, one student at a time.
Mission Statement
We believe that both the Old
and New Testament are the inspired Word of God, revealing the three Persons in
the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the incarnation
and the Virgin Birth of Our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ as true God and true
Man.
We believe that man was created
in the image of God, but became separated from God by sin.
We believe that man is redeemed
by grace through faith in Christ’s vicarious atonement for sins, the shedding of
His blood on the Cross.
We believe the gift of eternal
life is available to all men, that those who receive Christ by faith are
regenerated by the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. We believe
in the bodily resurrection of Christ, His imminent return, and the resurrection
of His people.
